The main argument in favor of all-ceramic restorations is that a metal framework is no longer necessary. As a result, the often unsightly grayish discoloration in the margin area of the crown will be avoided. In addition, no framework blocks the incident light thus preventing the natural refraction or translucency. Instead of having a depth effect, the metal framework reflects or absorbs the incident light and leads to an unnaturally opaque appearance of the crown or bridge.
Compared to traditional metal ceramics, modern all-ceramic systems offer many benefits.
