Alternatives to all-ceramics

The best solution: No filling at all!

Case 1: A hole, caused by e.g. caries or damages during oral hygiene has to be filled

Filling variants:

• Amalgam
• Gold inlay
• All-ceramic inlay
• Ceramic-veneered inlay
• Compomer filling
• Composite filling

Case 2: An aesthetic correction shall be made (e.g. due to a discolored tooth)

• Composite filling
• All-ceramic veneer

Case 3: A severely destroyed tooth cannot be preserved through fillings

Crown variants:

• Crown made of metal (mostly gold)
• Crown veneered with tooth-colored material (acrylics or ceramics)
• Crown completely manufactured from tooth-colored material (acrylics or ceramics)

Case 4: A gap limited by teeth must be closed.
